Botanical Name: 
Pinus thunbergii

Native to Japan.  Broadly pyramidal, dense, irregular shape with spreading often pendulous branches.  Pine needles are handsome, lustrous dark green, densely crowded, twisted, more or less spreading, 2 1/2" to 7" long.  Bark turns blackish gray and becomes fissured into elongated irregular plates.  Cones are ovoid to conical, 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide.  Medium growth rate.  Makes good accent tree or plant for bonsai
