Botanical Name: 
Quercus shumardii

A native to  the eastern U.S.  Leaves are dark green in summer turning scarlet red in autumn. They are alternate, simple 4 1/2" to 8 1/2" long, 4" to 6" wide, oblong, sometimes rounded, 7 to 11 lobed.  Bark matures to a brown nearly black color. In old age often round-topped and symmetrical.  Branches are more upright and do not grow down. Grows well in full sun in a wide variety of soils.  Moderate growth, then slows as tree matures.
