Open, spiny small tree or shrub native from Texas to Arizona. Leaves are green, tiny and feathery.  Primary leaflets in 2 or usually 3 to 7 pairs, secondary leaflets in about 6 to 16 pairs. Stipular spines in pairs at the nodes of the stems, usually white.
